Lumigan (Bimatoprost)

Lumigan (Bimatoprost) is used to lower high pressure inside the eyes, which can be caused by glaucoma, intraocular hypertension, or other eye diseases. By treating high eye pressure, blindness and visual field loss can be prevented.

Recommended Dosage – Discount Prescription Drug Lumigan

The dosage of Lumigan prescribed to each patient will vary. Always follow your physician’s instructions and/or the directions on the prescription drug label.

Lumigan is usually recommended to be used once a day in the evening. This eye drops should be administered at the same time each day. While applying eye drops, tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid and instill one drop into the eye. Close your eyes for one to two minutes. Then gently press your finger at the corner of your eyes to prevent the drops from being draining out.

Missed Dose of Lumigan

If your physician has instructed or directed you to apply  Lumigan medication in a regular schedule and you have missed a dose of this medicine, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the doses unless otherwise directed.

Overdose of Lumigan

Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If overdose of Lumigan is suspected, flush your eyes with warm water immediately. Seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Side Effects of Lumigan

Like other medicines, Lumigan can cause some side effects. If they do occur, the side effects of Lumigan are most likely to be minor and temporary. However, some may be serious and may require the individual to inform the doctor or visit the nearest hospital immediately.

It is pertinent to note that side effects of Lumigan cannot be anticipated. If any side effects of Lumigan develop or change in intensity, the doctor should be informed as soon as possible.

Lumigan can cause side effects such as weakness, eye irritation, headache, dry eyes, burning eyes, itching or stinging in the eye, and swelling of the eyelids. Some of the serious side effects of this medicine are increased tearing, blurred vision, eye pain, respiratory infections, cataract, and eye discharge. This is not a complete list of all side effects. Do concur with your doctor and follow his directions completely when you are applying Lumigan.

Usually drug interactions occur when it is taken with another drug or with food. Lumigan can be absorbed by contact lenses. Hence, before using the eye drops, contact lenses need to be removed and it can be reinserted after 15 minutes. You need to leave a 5-minute interval between the use of Lumigan and another eye medication. Lumigan may temporarily cause blurred vision. Hence, immediately after application of this eye drops, do not drive or operate machinery.

It should not be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Also, it should not be used if the patient is allergic to bimatoprost, benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, and hydrochloric acid. This eye drops may be harmful if swallowed. It should not be used after four weeks of opening. Regular eye examinations are advised while using this medicine. To avoid contamination and eye infection, do not let the dropper touch your eye, face, or fingers.
